Sri Venkateswara University, established in 1954, is a pre-eminent university located in the foothills of Tirumala. It is a high-impact global research university dedicated to serving the students of Andhra Pradesh and empowering them to maximize their potential for lifelong success.

It is one of the 13 universities in the State University system of Andhra Pradesh. Sri Venkateswara University is home to four constituent colleges and 191 affiliated UG and PG colleges, offering more than 99 bachelor's undergraduate courses, several certificate courses, 54 postgraduate courses, and doctoral-level degree programmes. The university is accredited with an ‘A+’ grade by NAAC.

The campus is well known for its greenery. Based on a semester system, the academic calendar is composed of two semesters every year.
